Saturdays, Sundays & Swinging

I love the weekends.  Obviously everyone loves the weekends but I love Saturday and Sunday even more now that Hannah is here.  I used to love Saturday and when Sunday came around I was bummed that I had to go to work the next day but now I love Sundays just as much because it's another play day!  It means I get to spend all my time with our little munchkin!  Austin was out of town last weekend so Saturday night Hannah and I stayed the night with her cousins.  Before we went to the bluebonnet patch Hannah and I met up with CiCi and Papa Coach for lunch.  Hannah looooooves her CiCi and Papa Coach and was so excited to see them on their way back home from vacation!

I love the silly faces she makes!

You think she was having a good time??

Oh, CiCi's fingers are so yummy!  My child puts EVERYTHING in her mouth!!

Hanging out with CiCi and Papa Coach!

After they left to head back home I picked up Tracy and Haley and we headed up to get the girls some diapers.  We have to use two carts, one for the babies and one for the stuff we buy!

On Sunday morning the girls played for a while before we headed home.  They are so cute together!  When Hannah and Haley see each other they just get so excited and smile and immediately grab for each other.  They are best friends. :)

What's that, Haley?

MUST HAVE IT!!

All was good again once we put a stop to the ear stealing...

Such a sweet baby girl

This picture is just too cute.

Hannah, I don't think you get it.  The toys here are mine!

So give it back!

I love this face.  It's like she's saying "Ha!  She thinks she can keep her toys away from ME?!  Good luck with that Haley!"

Tickle Monster!

Ummm....yeah.  Haley doesn't love the tickle monster so much...

What??  I just wanted to tickle her.  What's the big deal?

Hannah wanted to take a dive in the ball pit before we went home.  So much fun!

We left after breakfast and when we got home Daddy was back so we took Hannah to the park for the first time.  She LOVED it!!!

This warms my heart

It was sunny so Hannah asked for her shades.

Swinging with Mommy!

Then it was Daddy's turn!

Me with my precious girl

After her fun time at the park we headed home and she took a nap.  Well, we put her in her crib to take a nap.  About 10 mins later I looked at the video monitor and saw Miss Thang up to no good!

BUSTED!!  Her mattress is now lowered so she can't do that anymore.  How can she already be big enough to have her mattress lowered?!

Since she clearly wasn't interested in napping in her room we went into our room and she passed out.  She just wanted to hang out with her Mommy.  :)

Later that night Daddy read her a book before bed.

Austin and I talk about how much fun she is now.  Even taking her to a restaurant is fun because she's just so entertained by every little thing.  We love our sweet girl so much. :)

Bluebonnets

Saturday afternoon Tracy and I took the girls to a bluebonnet patch near their house.  The bluebonnets are just beginning to bloom here so we were the only ones there and they did great!  For those of you who don't get what the big deal is, the bluebonnet is the state flower of Texas and I think just about every Texan has at least one picture growing up in a patch of bluebonnets.

Sweetness

Little cutie Leah

Our girls were very busy ignoring as we yelled "HANNAH! LEAH! HALEY!  LOOK HERE!!"  Seriously, we were yelling...loudly.  They pretended they couldn't hear us.

They were all very busy

Have you ever taken two 7 month old babies and a 2 1/2  year old to get their picture taken outside??  I love Haley little face in this picture.

Hannah is checking Leah out

I love this sweet girl

What a photo shoot is really like!  Ha!

Pure cuteness!  Love love love her!!

Love these girls!

What's up?

I love the cute faces she makes!  Silly girl.

Sweetness

Leah trying to make her sister happy

Tracy with her girls!

The sun was in her eyes so Hannah asked for her super cool heart sunglasses.

Mommy, how much longer do I have to sit here?

Happy day

Wedding Roadtrip Fun

Last Saturday morning Tracy, Haley, Austin, Hannah and I headed up to Ft Worth for a wedding.  My Godparents son Chap was marrying his beautiful bride Amanda in a sweet and unique wedding ceremony Saturday night.  My parents were already there and ready to see us once we arrived after being in the car for five hours with two babies.  I have said it probably 20 times since then but I am SOOOOO proud of our babies for how they did in the car!  They both got an A+ for the road trip.  :)  Leah and Ryan stayed back in town and we missed them but Leah spent her Saturday at the movies for the first time and she had so much fun with her Daddy!

These pics were taken about 20 mins into the ride and they stayed that way for about 75% of the trip!
Haley sucking on her fingers snoozing away

Hannah out for the count

We stopped about an hour outside of Ft Worth for lunch and to let the girls stretch their legs for a little while.  While we were in line to get food our little group looked so funny, it was Austin standing there with me holding Hannah and Tracy holding Haley.  The couple behind us asked if we were on a reality show and we all laughed and said no, we are not a Texas version of Sister Wives.  Ha!

Once we got to the hotel suite the girls were ready to play!  They are just way too cool to be in public without their shades on!  After all, celebrities always wear sunglasses inside so they should too.  They probably feel like celebrities the way I follow them around taking their pictures like the paparazzi...  ;)

Mommy, your flash is blinding me, I must wear my new shades everywhere.  They're super cool with hearts on them.

The bride and groom were AWESOME and hired a babysitter for us since we were coming from out of town.  Hannah and Haley were in great hands partying it up in the suite while we were at the wedding.
How awesome would it be to be able to wear footed jammies in public?!  Just saying....
Hannah and me.

An awesome cell phone pic of us dressed up ready to hit the town.  It's rare people.  This picture makes me laugh because we look so straight.  You don't take cute huggy pictures in your wedding clothes when you're trying to display the outfit that took an entire Sunday to find (thanks Mom!  My Mom picked out my entire outfit).  ;)

The ceremony was so sweet and very unique with different kinds of current songs. They had their reception at The Modern Art Museum so we got to walk around looking at art before the cocktail hour started.  It was really neat.  Apparently I don't "get" art because some of it was literally a block of color painted on canvas.  Strange.  Some of it was really cool stuff though.
Our "admission ticket" to the museum with our table numbers.  Cute!

The reception had a really pretty and modern feel to it.  Very elegant.

Ok, so I thought this was so cool!  Since the reception was at an art museum their cake was made to replicate this piece of art.

How cool is that?!  So unique and different from most wedding cakes.

The grooms cake.  Awesomeness.

The fam.

My Dad with his girls

The girls

Tracy and me with Bryan, the groom's younger brother

This picture is dark but you can see how pretty the bride's dress was

The four of us with the newest member to the family!  Chap, Bryan, Tracy and I all grew up together like we were cousins.  Tracy and I apparently quit growing at the age of 12 and everyone else kept going.  We look so short here!  Ha!  Story of my life....

On Sunday morning we ate a yummy breakfast and then hit the road.  This is what it looks like with three adults and two babies for one night in a hotel.  And if I'm being completely honest here, this wasn't even everything..... my parents loaded their car up with the pack n plays and some toys.

Our girls ready to hit the road!  Yes, they have the exact same car seat.  No, we didn't think about how we go a lot of places together and how it looks like we have twins.  My bad....
Check out Haley's face here, she cracks me up!  She makes the cutest little faces all the time.

It was a great weekend and we are SOOOO proud of those sweet baby girls for being so good!  Congratulations Chap and Amanda!

Our Story - Advice

I read a quote somewhere in the beginning of this journey that I repeated over and over to myself. “You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have”. Each person deals with every situation differently and that is ok. Through my personal experience I’ve thought a lot about how to handle each situation and try to stay as strong and as positive as I could. Infertility is a HARD pill to swallow. It’s not anything you ever want to go through but if it’s the card you’re dealt then you just need to do your best to accept it and think about the end result. The end result will get you through the hardest days.

I am only one person who went through this situation and this is MY advice on how to get through it.

The “rules” I set for myself -

Stay strong. After each time I received less than stellar news (which was a LOT) I allowed myself to cry once. That was it. I would have a good cry, let it all out and then move on. I’m not a cold person at all, I’m actually very emotional but I couldn’t allow myself to be emotional about this. It was not productive and the stress wasn’t going to help me get pregnant. So, after I cried I thought about the next step we were going to take and got excited about that.

Be confident in your decisions. The best decision I made was picking my RE. I was so confident in every decision that he made, I trusted him 100%. If I didn’t have that confidence I can’t even imagine how difficult this journey would have been. Pick a doctor that you trust, if you don’t trust them then switch to someone you do trust. It is so important.

Document document document! I documented EVERYTHING!! I had a little notebook in my purse that I wrote down every detail in. I wrote down each co-pay, prescription and dosage, amount of follicles, procedure done, side effects, parking cost, etc and it helped SO much. Just from making sure I paid the right amount if it was disputed, helped when tax time came or just so I knew what to expect for side effects or could confirm something with my doctor, having everything written down was a great help.

Don’t take things too personally. When someone else gets pregnant in no time or when someone tells you to “relax” just shrug it off. I always was happy for anyone who got pregnant no matter how easy it was for them. Did it sting a little? Of course. It is so hard when other people are having an easy time doing something that you are struggling so much with. It’s that way with anything in life but I always just made sure I congratulated them and got excited for them and if I was upset I held it in until I was alone. It’s not easy but everyone deserves their happiness even if you are having a hard time.

Have hope.  We never gave up, we always knew that eventually we would have our baby.  I was so touched when Austin's grandma told me that nuns at her church were praying for us.  They didn't even know us and they were praying for us and our sweet baby.  Little things like that got us through the toughest days.  Remember that you aren't alone.  There are so many other couples going through the same thing and understand how you're feeling.  That's the only reason why I'm sharing this on my blog.

Advice for people who have a loved one going through infertility –

If you get pregnant or know someone who is don't hide it from the person going through their own struggles. No matter what someone is going through they will always be happy for you if you have great news.  Even if it's the kind of news they'd love to share with others and just haven't been able to yet.

Don't ever tell them to just relax!  Seriously, you have NO idea how annoying this is. Yes, I’m sure in many cases that is the issue and when your body is in stress it makes it difficult to get pregnant. I’ve heard it 758 times. But in more serious cases when a woman CAN’T get pregnant on their own, relaxing isn’t going to make it happen. It will just make her more annoyed with you. ;)  For those of you that have gone through this, you understand where I'm coming from!

Be sensitive to what they are going through.  It's emotionally, physically and financially draining and just overall a tough thing to experience.

Just be there. I definitely knew which of my family and friends I could lean on to talk about this to and I knew they genuinely cared about what was going on and that was such a great feeling. They didn’t know how I felt and they didn’t need to, they were just there to listen and support and it helped more than they ever will know.

Ok, so after the longest three posts ever, I'm done.  I hope at least one person finds these posts helpful.  Feel free to email me if you have any questions about anything at all!

Our Story - Part One

For the past two and a half years I’ve kept a big part of our life off of my blog. I’ve thought a LONG time about this post and exactly what I was going to say (this actually has been in draft for a year to post). Since Kelly’s Korner is spotlighting infertility (those currently going through it but I'm linking up because I hope to be able to help anyone experiencing what I went through) with her Show Us Your Life series I’ve decided to share the story of how we got here and our struggles with infertility. I’ve been asked many times if I’m going to share what’s been going on with us on the blog and I’ve said the same thing from day one – I will share the whole story once it’s a success story, not a “trying” story. We definitely have our success story!  FYI, this will probably be very boring to anyone who isn't going/gone through infertility so you might want to pass these posts up.

I want to start off by saying that through the entire year of struggling to conceive my most useful resource for information was through reading other peoples blogs. Obviously, my doctor knew more than anyone what to do but when I wanted to see what other women went through during the same stages I relied on what they wrote on their blogs. It helped me get through what was the hardest year of my life just knowing I wasn’t alone in everything and that even when you’re going through such a hard time, it all CAN work! When I decided I was going to share this on my blog I knew there was only one reason for that and that was in case anyone ever wanted advice and/or information on what happened to other women, not just themselves. Part of me felt guilty for not sharing this earlier because I was using other people’s blogs to help me and I wasn’t sharing my story as well. There are several people who I met through this whole process and we emailed back and forth all the time but I wasn’t sharing publicly.  A few of them I consider great "blog friends" still and one of them we went through infertility together and ended up having our babies just a day apart so we're experiencing the whole baby world together too!

I’m going to post our journey but I’m not going to share all the details because after all, this is the internet, but if you have any questions you’d like to ask me privately, please feel free to email me and I’ll be more than happy to answer anything I can. Please keep in mind that this is OUR story and I am not a medical expert by any means and I’m only sharing MY opinions and no one else’s. What I believe may not be what you believe and what worked for me may not work for someone else and please respect that.

PART 1

2009 - In September 2009 Austin and I decided it was time to start a family. For some reason I think I always knew it wouldn’t be right away or really easy but I had NO idea what we were in for. I went to visit my OB for my yearly appointment in November and mentioned a few things to her that I was concerned with and she said she wanted to run some tests. A week later she called me back in and said I had a hypo-thyroid and I also have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). I had never heard of this at the time but she said my blood work showed that it was more than she was comfortable dealing with and advised me to see a Reproductive Endocrinologist (RE) right away. I am SO grateful to her for telling me this when she did and not wasting my time trying to “fix me” herself. I still remember that day like it was yesterday. I walked out of her office on the 2nd floor, put my sunglasses on and was crying before I hit the elevators. I remember calling my sister and my mom just devastated thinking that I might not be able to have a baby. Tracy mentioned to me that Kate Gosselin had PCOS and she had lots of babies! Ha, not exactly what I was hoping for but true, she was successful getting pregnant.

January 2010 - In January I had my first appointment with Dr. H, the RE. I was treated for my thyroid and immediately tested and examined and he said “Oh yes, you are VERY polycystic!”.  Awesome.  My ovaries were each surrounded with 18-25 cysts and they basically looked like honeycombs, it was crazy looking. My problem in a nutshell was that I don’t ovulate.  If it’s not forced then nothing will happen. He was very positive and said he WILL get me pregnant; it just may take some time. By January 15th I was getting injections in my abdomen to help things along.

Here is what one cycle of medication looked like on my door step!

February – I started taking 50mg of Clomid to get my ovaries to ovulate. I also started taking Provera. Nothing happened. On February 22nd, (my 9th visit to the RE since my initial appointment on January 13th) the valet guy said “Welcome home” to me. Yeah, I was there a LOT. I started 100mg of Clomid and estrogen daily. Nothing happened. Dr. H determined I’m one of the 10% of women who are resistant to Clomid. Go figure. Later on in the process Dr H, Austin and I found it funny to say I’m the “TOP 10%” because I swear, I was included in the 10% of everything it seemed (resistant to medications, side effects, etc), not exactly the best spot but it is what it is, right?

March – I start taking Femara and the dreaded Menopur injections start. I start with single doses and move onto double doses because nothing was happening. Like, NOTHING. At all. Once I got to quadruple doses things got moving. When I say that I mean really moving! I went from having zero follicles to many follicles. Dr. H said that’s the problem with me, I respond to nothing and then BAM I respond way too much. Two days before our three year wedding anniversary I start experiencing pain around my left ovary. I left work early and barely made it home before it was so intense I got back in the car and headed to the emergency clinic. I still remember calling Austin crying like I had never cried before and standing outside of my car because it hurt too much to sit any longer. Poor guy was at work, 30 mins away and had no idea what to do. By the end of the day it was determined that the follicles not only grew like they were supposed to but unfortunately all 18-25 of my cysts grew as well. And they grew LARGE. Most of them were about 2.5 inches in size. All surrounding each ovary. So, on our anniversary I got to have a surgical procedure done to aspirate the cysts, basically drain them to relieve the pain and shrink the size. After going through all of that it was determined I wasn’t pregnant for that cycle.

April – April was a slow month due to the events of March. Austin was tested and his results came back good luckily.

May – I start taking triple doses of Menopur then followed by quadruple doses a few weeks later along with some other medications. I had five mature follicles ready to be fertilized through our 1st attempt of intrauterine insemination (IUI). Two days after the IUI I start experiencing major swelling in the abdominal area that made me look like I was about five months pregnant. Not good. I specifically remember going to dinner one night with our entire family with my pants buttoned (like a normal person) and by the end of the meal I couldn’t even keep them zipped anymore because of the swelling . Luckily I had on a long enough shirt…. We were in another state celebrating a cousin’s graduation and I was in pain and trying not to cry at the table hoping no one noticed. I was scared and very far from my doctor and nervous about what was happening but after a few days the swelling went down. I now know it was hyper stimulation from everything that had happened the week before. Not surprisingly, the blood pregnancy test was negative that month and I got back on birth control to try to get my ovaries back to a normal size for a month.

June - We try for IUI #2 at the end of the month with two mature follicles (MUCH more ideal that the five I had produced previously) after taking rounds of Menopur and other fertility enhancing medications. At this point I learned that I was Dr H’s VIP and most seen patient according to him and his staff. Always nice to get the good treatment when you’re at the Dr almost the same amount of time that you are at work. ;)

July – We find out that IUI #2 was unsuccessful and start cycle all over again to prepare for IUI #3. In the mean time I have a hysterosalpingogram (HSG) procedure done. It’s basically where a dye is injected into your fallopian tubes to make sure they are clear. My Dr was at a loss for why the previous IUI procedures hadn’t been working and wanted to make sure I didn’t have blocked fallopian tubes. Turns out I did have one side blocked and during the HSG procedure he cleared it. Oh. My. Gosh. OUCH! During the procedure you are awake so once the dye was in and he noticed the blocked tube he tried to naturally unblock it without having to go in later for a surgical procedure. He had me moving around trying to get the dye to break through the blockage and I swear to you, I HEARD it break through. There was a POP (which I felt, OUCH!) and then the dye went through like it should. Not a great day physically but it cleared both my fallopian tubes and gave myself and Dr H more hope for IUI #3. July was a big milestone for me and my mom during this process; I started giving myself my own injections! Up until this point I had been going to my parents’ house almost daily so my mom, who is an RN and gives really good shots, could shoot me up. There was a weekend I was going out of town and I still needed my injections so she coached me on what to do and from there on out I did it every time! I actually started to prefer it over others giving me the shots, it was just easier. I start the quadruple Menopur again along with various pills and patches for IUI #3. We go in on a Sunday for the IUI procedure and I later experience some severe cramping which was unusual. A few days later it’s determined that my ovaries are larger than my uterus which wasn’t good.

August – IUI #3 results are negative. After an ultrasound the Dr notices my cysts are all very large and full of blood and fluid so we have to coast this cycle with birth control again to try to calm everything down. After my 1st IUI my Dr sat us down and said our best bet was going to be In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). Well, the difference between IUI and IVF could be compared (just cost wise) to buying a four wheeler instead of a BMW. They aren’t even in the same ballpark. Or in any surrounding area to the ballpark financially. Not only was the cost a major factor of our decision to continue to try with the IUIs but the toll IVF takes on your body is very tough. I had no idea the difference I was going to endure between IUI and IVF. So, that being said, Austin, myself and Dr H decided to try one last time with IUI #4. I started multiple different injections, pills and patches in August. I also started acupuncture once a week to assist with my treatments by the recommendation of Dr H that continued until I was in my 2nd trimester of pregnancy.

Our Story - Part Two

September – I remember September was when the women who take my blood every visit had to switch arms because I had developed so much scar tissue in my arm from getting so many blood draws that my right arm was no good anymore. Awesome. Labor Day weekend I have six (my highest number and the max my Dr would continue on with an IUI) follicles and we go in for IUI #4. My hopes, along with my Drs, my acupuncturist (who I highly recommend to anyone going through infertility), and Austin’s were high for this round. It was my last chance and the odds were good since I had six mature follicles. Only one had to stick. It didn’t work. I was devastated. I was at one of my best friend’s bachelorette party weekends and everyone was having a great time and all I wanted to do was go home and cry. Luckily my sister and some of my other best friends were there to help me through it. A few days later I was back at Dr H’s office getting my IVF counseling visit on what to expect. Austin and I both had to get a panel of blood work done to make sure we were candidates for IVF. I remember laughing because I got the shiny green packet this time for the IVF. My IUI packet was boring and plain but when you’re shelling out the big bucks you get the fancy stuff! Ha! I was also reminded that the chances for an embryo to survive through the 1st trimester due to my condition were 55%. Definitely not what you want to hear but I’ll take it.

October – Start medication for IVF cycle. This is the list of medication I took: Follistim, Menopur, Novirel, Lupron, Progesterone, Doxicycline, Estrace, & Medrol. Almost all of those medications were taken daily. For a while I was taking SIX injections per day!

Ok, I just had to show this picture.  This was me right before we left for a Halloween party getting ready to give myself a shot.  It just makes me laugh seeing me standing there with my wig cap on measuring out my medicine.  Ha!

November – On the 5th I went through the trial transfer to make sure everything is going to work. On the 8th I went under anesthesia for the egg retrieval procedure. Once we arrive home after the procedure I was experiencing so much abdominal pain that I couldn't move without Austin helping me. We get a call from Dr H saying that they retrieved 25 eggs and 20 of them fertilized!! That is amazing and not a common amount! Three days later on the 11th we go back for the embryo transfer where two of the embryos are implanted and the rest are frozen and put into storage (sounds so clinical but it’s just the way it is).

We were so excited after the embryo transfer!

I was on bed rest for 24 hours and start taking the daily progesterone injections and wearing estrogen patches.  Here my Mom is teaching Austin how to give me the progesterone injections.  Those are completely different than all the other shots I was getting and it was easier to have someone give me those.  Yeah....I ended up just doing it myself since I took them for 12 weeks.

My sweet hubby and Brody hanging out with me while I was on bedrest!

My awesome sister took off work to hang out with me too!

I have to mention this because I think it's so neat, maybe it's a coincidence, maybe not, but three days later on the 14th the fertility bracelet that my sister bought for me broke off my wrist.  We think it's because that's when the embryo's stuck.  Call me crazy, but you hold on to any hope you have and that was a sign for us.  I didn't need the bracelet anymore. :)  Later that day I started experiencing pain like I have never experienced before. EVER. I posted about this back in November 2010 but now I can explain how we got to that point. My left ovary was HUGE from producing so many eggs and on top of all of that I developed kidney stones (talk about bad timing!). After an ER visit and four days in the hospital doped up on Morphine I started to slowly feel better. The major issue that we ALL worried about while I was in the ER/hospital was that I could be pregnant and should I be taking all of these medications? There were a team of Drs making these decisions for me thankfully but I was so stressed about it, especially at the ER when the ER Dr wasn’t being very helpful or understanding about the situation. My Dr on the other hand was calling the ER doctor and then calling Austin immediately after making sure that I was taken care of and that the ER doctor didn’t mess any of the IVF stuff up. I’m so grateful for him being so protective of me that night. We were so scared and it was awful and the worse thing I’ve ever been through in my life. The kidney stones couldn’t have come at a worse time but it is what it is. We had to go with it and make it through and be strong and pray that our embryos could survive it as well.

Hanging out in my hospital room

Our prayers were answered on November 22nd, 2010. I went in that morning for the blood draw. I was so nervous. I waited ALL day for them to call me and tell me whether I was going to be a Mommy or not. I waited at Tracy’s house for a while killing time with her and Leah, I then came home and watched TV and stared at my phone every five minutes. I have to document what I was doing when I got the call because I think it’s just funny and very typical of me. Finally, in the middle of watching Beverly Hills 90210 (ironically it was the episode when Janet tells Steve that she’s pregnant) I got a call from Nurse Allison at 3:30pm. She said she had good news and that she fought with the other staff to call me and said congratulations!! My HCG level was 135 and we were pregnant! We hung up and I cried. Like, HARD crying. For a while. Then at 4:30 Dr H called me and said “It’s a miracle! You have one stubborn baby in there!” He was so excited for us and I was beyond thrilled. Now I just had to wait on Austin to get home because I didn’t want to tell him over the phone. He knew I was getting the call that day but I just kept texting him saying I still hadn’t heard anything to try to throw him off a little. I was being harassed by my sister (seriously, but I would have been doing the exact same thing to her so it’s ok. Ha!) all afternoon with text messages and I HAD to tell someone because I had already been sitting at home for over an hour with no one to tell our news to so I finally called her. I tried to act all normal like it was a regular day and she was just freaking out so I told her I was pregnant! She was SCREAMING in my ear and was so excited and Leah thought that was just so funny and she was laughing at her mommy and I could hear her too through the phone so it was really sweet. My parents had been calling/texting Tracy all day asking if I knew anything because they didn’t want to bother me. So Tracy told them that we were all coming over for dinner because Leah didn’t need to go out and that we’d wait to hear from me then. I had told everyone that my results may not come in until the following day in case I didn’t want to talk to anyone that night or in case they really didn’t come in that day. Because of my hospital stay EVERYONE knew we were getting results that day. So, Austin FINALLY came home and I had Brody dressed in a t-shirt that I had made for him 11 months earlier that said “BIG Brother” on it. He greeted Austin in the entry way like he always does and I was videoing his reaction. He was so excited! We then headed to my parents house and called his family on the way over there. No one was ignoring our calls that day! Most of them were 1st ring answers. Ha! We got to my parents house and everyone was staring at us as the door opened and B still had his shirt on and Tracy was videoing us and my Dad saw Brody and said “you’re pregnant?!” and my mom then saw the shirt. It was so exciting and special to all of us. We had a GREAT thanksgiving that year! So much to be thankful for. Two days later my HCG levels were 376, five days later 3,647 and 10 days later 32,308. Baby T was growing in there!

Brody in his special shirt!

December – On the 8th we got to see Baby T for the 1st time. :)

2011

January – January 5th at 10 weeks we got to see Baby T moving! We were both just in awe looking at our precious little baby in there. It was so surreal seeing her moving her arms and legs around and actually looking like a baby! I loved that day.

The rest of our story has been documented on the blog from 12 weeks on.

Going through infertility is something no one wants to experience. It was something I hadn’t really ever thought about before I experienced it myself. I had NO idea that so many women experience similar things that I did. I felt like my body was failing me and I was “broken”. Obviously I wish we could have conceived a baby naturally and not gone through all the pain and money that we did but part of me is grateful for it. I’ve been asked several times if I would do it all again and my answer is yes, I would do this ALL again in a heartbeat. Our baby girl is SO loved and we are just so happy that we get to be her parents that I would do it over again without a doubt. One day when she’s older I’ll get to tell her how she got here and although it’s not the most traditional or conventional way, it’s the story of how much her Mommy and Daddy loved her and wanted her sooo much before she even existed. If these past few years hadn’t have happened I would have no idea just how strong I can be which brings me to my final part of this topic.

No Puffs

Hannah was cracking me up last night.  I would give her some puffs and she kept making this noise.  As soon as I took them away she would stop.  So, I guess for now we'll just stick to Mum Mums as her snack.

Love my sweet girl
